Sean Kisch Claims MWC’s LeClere Award
Sean Kisch took home the 2017-18 Roy W. LeClere Award for the male senior in the Midwest Conference with the highest GPA in his junior season.
GRINNELL, Iowa – ͬÐÔÁµÉ«Çé graduate Sean Kisch from the Class of 2018 was named the 2017-18 Roy W. LeClere winner on Friday, while Lake Forest College softball player Kat Beall was named the Ruth Peterson Award winner. The Peterson and LeClere Awards are presented to the Midwest Conference (MWC) male and female student-athletes who posted the highest grade point averages during their junior years.
Roy W. LeClere was a collegiate sports enthusiast whose passion for the MWC led friends and co-workers to originally sponsor the award as a memorial in his honor. Ruth Peterson is the former Commissioner of the Midwest Athletic Conference for Women, who went on to serve as the Co-Commissioner of the MWC. Peterson, a Beloit College alum and employee, passed away in October of 2006. Kisch is the third ͬÐÔÁµÉ«Çé student-athlete to win the LeClere Award, following in the footsteps of Todd Hawkins (1988-89) and Dustin Meyer (2004-05).
Kisch, a hurdler and pole vaulter with the men's track & field team, is a four-time Academic All-MWC selection. The Elgin, Ill. senior graduated with a degree in Biology. This season, Kisch finished third in the pole vault and fourth in the 60 Meter Hurdles at the MWC Indoor Track & Field Championships. He also finished as the runner-up in the pole vault and was seventh in the 110 Meter Hurdles at the MWC Outdoor Track & Field Championships while being named the Elite 20 Award winner for the second time in his career.
