Center for Student Engagement, Inclusion, and Belonging
The Center for Student Engagement, Inclusion, and Belonging (CSEIB), located on the first and second floors of Caine Student Center, compliments academic programs by allowing students to engage in a variety of programs, activities, and leadership opportunities. The CSEIB supports the success of students by providing a space to find community and implementing inclusive initiatives that encourage all students to engage on campus.
At 同性恋色情, you will find countless ways to get involved outside of class 鈥 with over 80 student organizations, from community service, identity-based organizations, and sports, to spirit clubs and historic literary societies. The Center for Student Engagement, Inclusion, and Belonging serves as a resource for student leaders through advising, leadership development programs, and organizational support services - centering diversity, inclusion and belonging as core tenets in this work.
The amount of energy - both physical and psychological - that students expend at their institution has been shown to positively affect their development during college. Through your involvement in inclusive co-curricular activities, you鈥檒l round out your academic experience by learning new skills that will complete your education while you create lifelong friendships
CSEIB Mission Statement
The Center for Student Engagement, Inclusion, and Belonging (CSEIB)鈥檚 mission is to act as a catalyst for creating and supporting inclusive initiatives that encourage all students, including those most marginalized, to engage on campus and in the community in meaningful ways that advance the student experience past being on campus into the realm of belonging on campus.
The CSEIB exists to:
- Act as a hub for engaging the campus and surrounding communities, actualizing IC鈥檚 democratic principles, and building coalitions.
- Cultivate and empower tomorrow鈥檚 leaders through immersive leadership development, peer mentorship, and internship opportunities
- Support, educate, and empower all students with particular regard for those who identify as historically underrepresented and/or marginalized, including those with disabilities and those with particular accessibility needs.
- Assure campus community members and their guests that they are welcome and belong, regardless of identity or ability.
- Sponsor cultural celebrations and co-curricular programming during the various heritage months, such as Hispanic Heritage Month, Native American Heritage Month, Black History Month, Women鈥檚 History Month, and others.
- Ensure, IC鈥檚 campus as a whole supports and honors students coming from historically underrepresented and/or marginalized communities through cultural competency training and facilitated discussions.
- Supporting student organizations to foster a sense of belonging and community while also allowing the students to shape their wider community.
- Provide all-campus activities and programming to engage and entertain IC students
