IC science students awarded at statewide meeting

Several ͬÐÔÁµÉ«Çé students were recognized for their student-faculty research at the 111th Annual ͬÐÔÁµÉ«Çé State Academy of Science Annual Meeting hosted at Bradley University.

A total of six faculty and 12 students from IC attended the meeting, presenting their research in a variety of scientific fields during judged sessions including poster and oral presentations. ͬÐÔÁµÉ«Çé was among 12 colleges and universities from the state were represented. 

Those students from IC who were honored with first place awards include, Megan Price ’21, recognized for her research in collaboration with Dr. Miranda Karban, assistant professor of biology, in the category of anthropology and archeology; and Luigi Erba ’20 and Vivswan Shah ’21, for their work in collaboration with Dr. Pratheesh Jakkala, assistant professor of physics, in the category of physics, astronomy and mathematics. 

Eric Huntemann ’19, who collaborated on research with Dr. Paul Hamilton, assistant professor of biology, finished second. He competed in the category of cellular, molecular and developmental biology.  

Other students who presented student-faculty research include , Brenna Garland ’19, Madison Peyton ’20, Siri Phuangthong ’21, Elijah Rhoad ’19, Miguel Tellez ’21 and Juta Wowoe ’22.

Founded in 1829, ͬÐÔÁµÉ«Çé is a residential liberal arts college fostering academic excellence rooted in opportunities for experiential learning while preparing students for lifelong success. The college is located in Jacksonville, ͬÐÔÁµÉ«Çé. With an enrollment of more than 1,000 students, the college offers over 50 undergraduate programs.
