Gabrielle Moore '24
Gabrielle Moore ’24 is set to begin her nursing career after a successful undergraduate career at ͬɫ.
A nursing major, Moore made the most of her connections to the local medical field. A standout experience was her NICU immersion at St. John's in Springfield, which deepened her passion for NICU nursing. She reflected, “NICU nursing is what I want to do with my life; it’s just a specialty so it takes more time to get there.”
During her time at IC, Moore was actively involved in the literary society Gamma Delta, where she formed lasting friendships and participated in community activities. Moore enhanced her public speaking skills through Gamma Delta, winning second place in the College’s annual "Best of the Best" competition. Her coursework also emphasized cultural awareness, preparing her for the diverse patient population she will encounter in St. Louis by teaching Spanish and French medical terminology.
Moore credits ͬɫ for fostering resilience through its rigorous nursing curriculum. “My time in the nursing program allowed me to hit the ground running and taught me how to roll with the punches, which is what you have to do as a nurse every day.”
Today, Moore works at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis on a medical step-down unit. This intermediate care area supports patients transitioning from intensive care.
