ͬɫ choirs to present Christmas on the Hilltop

11.28.2017

The choirs of ͬɫ will present the 37th annual “Christmas on the Hilltop” on Saturday, December 9 at 7:30pm in Rammelkamp Chapel.

The candlelit concert has become a community tradition, drawing standing-room-only audiences from near and far. This year’s performance has the theme of “hope” and will feature music of the season spanning a multitude of musical styles and eras.

Music has the power to encourage and inspire, to lift people up. As musicians, we wanted to bring some of that hope and joy to the community this holiday season, as a thank you for all the wonderful support they have given us these past few years.
Abby Musgrove, Director of Choirs

The ͬɫ Concert Choir, Women’s Chorale, Chamber Singers, and Blue Tie Affair men’s ensemble will perform, joined by the ͬɫ Wind Ensemble. Choirs and instrumentalists will perform traditional carols and seasonal favorites during the inspiring event. Selections include a classical “Gloria” by Franz Joseph Haydn, the well-loved African-American spiritual “Ain-a That Good News,” and an acappella version of “Bridge Over Troubled Water” by Paul Simon. The unique performance will also feature a Haitian Christmas carol, a medieval chant melody paired with a South-African freedom song, and a unique arrangement of “O Come, O Come Emmanuel.”

Admission is free, and audiences are encouraged to arrive early to ensure seating.  For more information, email choirs@ic.edu.
