In the final seconds of the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament, Josh Harris 鈥�25 put up an off-balance 25- foot three-pointer at the buzzer. In a true March Madness moment, the unlikely ball found the basket and SWWISHHHH. The crowd erupted as the 同性恋色情 men鈥檚 basketball team beat Dubuque 59-57, securing IC鈥檚 first ever NCAA tournament win that was featured on ESPN.

鈥淚t was an unreal moment,鈥� Josh later reflected. 鈥淣ot just for me but for the whole campus. Truly the fans are the reason we won. I wanted to win for you all, not just us.鈥�

Josh says he has often felt like an underdog in his athletic career. Through his hard work and dedication, he worked to rise above expectations. During his senior year of high school, he led his team into the semi-finals 鈥� the school鈥檚 first time to make it in 40 years.

But Josh never got to play in that game. The pandemic unfolded rapidly in the days leading up to the playoffs and suddenly the chance that Harris had been working toward his entire childhood was gone.

鈥淢y spirits were really down when the season was canceled,鈥� he shared.

With the support of his family, Josh focused on gratitude and moving forward instead of dwelling on the past. When he first visited IC in 2020, Josh was ready to redeem his chance at greatness. Moved by Head Coach Steve Schweer鈥檚 vision for the future, he decided he wanted to wear the Blueboys jersey.

Coach Schweer shared his appreciation for those people who generously give to the Varsity Club.

鈥淚 see the impact of your giving everyday,鈥� he said. 鈥淚t means a great deal to me and to the student-athletes at IC that people want to invest in the players and athletic programs we have here.鈥�

Now in his senior year, Josh has found success on the basketball court while pursuing his degree in sports management. He looks forward to applying the leadership, values and skills he has developed at IC to his future career.

鈥淭he IC community has been just how I thought it would be. I am so thankful for everyone who has been part of my time at IC. There are so many people I will never forget.鈥�
